Project Portfolio Management

Portfolio management is about choosing the right projects and programs for the corporate strategy. Today, organizations realize that they cannot waste time and money on projects doomed to fail. The focus is on “recovering of failing projects” and trying to avoid project at all points in the project lifecycle. The “new” paradigm is that it is better to ensure that only the “best” projects are commenced in the first place.
The Project Management Institute® (PMI) responded to this need by creating a new Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) credential, which will demonstrate your proven ability to execute organizational strategy by selecting the right programs or projects, prioritizing the work and providing the needed resources.
Portfolio management is an area in which more and more PMOs are looking to become engaged. This is directly related to increasing business complexity and contribution of projects and programs to successful strategy execution.
This course is designed for project, program and portfolio managers and others involved in the selection and authorization of projects, programs and portfolios, for the managers of PMOs and for those responsible for managing programs and projects.
